Why isn't your business online?
Customers are looking for you
In today's internet connected world, there is only one valid reason for your business not to be online:
You're going out of business. Tomorrow.
That's it. A little sensationalist? Possibly, but not by much. Does that mean it's impossible for a business to survive without a website? Certainly not, businesses all over continue to thrive without ever thinking about making the jump online. Then why such a bold statement? Because simply, ignoring your customers online is bad business.
Whether you realize it or not, customers are looking for your business online. And not just new customers, your current ones are as well. Why would that be? Because in the past few years there has been a major migration of habits of people looking for information. Whereas five years ago if someone wanted your phone number, they would look it up in a phone book, today those same people just type your name into Google.
If you're not there, someone else is
Consider this example. If you live in this area, you'll notice a couple places are very conspicuously missing. See for yourself on Google When I'm looking for the number of my favorite local pizza place (on North Broad St., if you must know) I have to look further. But what if I wasn't from the area? I wouldn't even know I'm going to be missing out on the best pizza in town, when I choose from my options above.
Which brings me to the next point, your online listings can be much more valuable than a phone book listing, because it allows you to promote your business.
What can you include in a local business listing?
- A detailed decription of your business
- Your hours of Operation
- Driving directions with maps
- A link to your website
- Customer Reviews
- Photos, Images & Logos
- Your Menu (or product/service list)
- Videos
- and more...
